WOW Skin Science Vitamin C Oil-Free Face Serum is formulated around two fundamental principles in modern Vitamin C serum design: stability and bioavailability. Pure L-Ascorbic Acid — the biologically active form of Vitamin C — is notoriously unstable in aqueous serum formulations, oxidizing rapidly on exposure to light, heat, and air, turning the product yellow-orange while losing efficacy. The formula circumvents this entirely by using two stable Vitamin C derivatives that remain chemically intact through formulation and shelf life, and are converted to free Ascorbic Acid only after they have penetrated the skin — where it is needed.

• Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid) is an ether derivative of Ascorbic Acid in which an ethyl group is bonded at the C-3 position of the ascorbate ring — the same position responsible for Vitamin C’s instability and oxidation. This modification makes Ethyl Ascorbic Acid highly stable across the pH range commonly used in serums (pH 5–7) while preserving full biological activity.
• Ascorbyl Methylsilanol Pectinate is a unique Vitamin C derivative that combines Ascorbic Acid with methylsilanol (an organosilicon compound with high affinity for lipid membranes) and pectin (a natural polysaccharide from apple and citrus).
• Ferulic Acid is a hydroxycinnamic acid phenolic compound that occupies a unique position in antioxidant serum formulation as both an independent antioxidant and a synergistic stabilizer and potentiator of Vitamin C.
• Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract — the alcohol-free extract form — provides the formula’s pore-refining, sebum-regulating, and antibacterial support. How to Use:
